Oction Labs — Brand System
Application
Oction Labs - Application & Build Checklist
From the brand book p.10-11, p.19, p.26-27, cross-referenced with the mining site work.
1. Web (p.26)
- Dark by default (Ink field, white/steel text, coral accents). Light theme mirrors layout
(white field, ink/graphite text,
#C2330Ffor small coral). - Hero banners: image dissolves into its field on one side (per the two-field grade, never a separate overlay band), lockup sits in the calm zone, one coral rule at the base. Contrast behind the lockup: 4.5:1 minimum.
- Logo: reversed lockup on dark, ink lockup on light; mark top-left with tracked mono wordmark beside it when abbreviated.
- Imagery B&W only (two-field grade). True cutouts, no visible frames/borders.
- Motion: the Pulse on hero entrance, dot breathing idle, Resonance/sucker-field for ambient.
Respect
prefers-reduced-motion. - One coral CTA per view. SEO/GEO baseline: title, description, canonical, OG/Twitter, JSON-LD (Organization + WebSite; FAQPage on FAQ), geo meta (Canada / Calgary · Vancouver).
2. Decks (.pptx / .pdf)
- Dark throughout for premium feel; light slides only as a deliberate sandwich.
- The real mark, matched to background (reversed/white on dark, primary/ink on light),
reproduced from
assets/oction-labs_icon_*.svg- never a redraw. - Type: light-weight sans substitute for Technor (NOT Cambria - see corrections), Calibri/Arial body, Consolas mono kickers. Max weight 500.
- Motif: coral dot + mono kicker + hairline cards on carbon. No accent stripes, no color bars, no underlines under titles.
- One coral gesture per slide (dot/kicker/one CTA), never a coral wash.
3. Documents / print (p.27)
- White field, ink text, graphite muted, coral kicker (
#C2330Ffor small coral on white). - Ink lockup top-left; posters export at 300 dpi from the masters.
- Headlines in Technor Light on the field colour, never over the subject.
- A4 posters: light field → stacked lockup; ink field → reversed lockup; one image, one lockup, one coral rule, nothing else.
4. Social (p.27)
- Social template 4:5: image field above, Ink caption band below, lockup at the seam, one coral rule.
- Profile: the mark on Ink (reversed) or White (primary), arms never cropped.
- Captions follow the copy rules (sentence/lowercase, no em dashes, single coral accent).
5. Co-branding (p.19)
- Oction horizontal logotype first (left or top), a Steel hairline divider, then the partner mark scaled to equal cap/icon height. Gap each side of the divider = 2× the standard clear-space unit.
- On dark, both marks reverse; the coral dot remains.
- Never merge marks, interleave letterforms, place the partner inside our clear space, or allow a partner colour within 2× of our mark.
6. Build checklist (run before shipping any asset)
- [ ] Correct variant for the background (no invisible marks; 4.5:1 contrast).
- [ ] Mark is the canonical geometry from the SVG master (2 circles + 8 long tapered arms to
r46, dot r9
#FF4B26, no strokes/gradients/rings/extra circles). See01_LOGO.md§8. - [ ] Colours are exact tokens (
02_COLOR.md); coral ≤ 5% outside the mark; no coral tints. - [ ] Type: max weight 500; Technor (or light-sans substitute) for display; Inter body; mono kickers.
- [ ] Sentence case default; lowercase for wordmark/handles/film cards; caps only in mono kickers.
- [ ] No em dashes. No exclamation marks. No emoji.
- [ ] Imagery B&W, two-field graded, edge vanishes on its surface; mark never on bare imagery.
- [ ] Clear space = ½ icon height respected; minimum sizes met.
- [ ] One coral gesture per surface; one sticker per surface (if used).
- [ ] Contact is

7. Corrections applied vs. earlier work (what was wrong before)
- Logo was redrawn / "enhanced" (halo ring, double-stroked core, 3D beaded dot, stubby arms) in earlier decks. Wrong. The mark is flat, 8 long tapered arms to r46, flat coral dot r9, reproduced from the SVG master. Fixed here; the deck generators must be updated to place the real SVG, not draw shapes.
- Cambria was used as the Technor substitute in decks. Wrong - Cambria is a serif; Technor is a wide machined grotesque. Use a light-weight sans substitute instead.
- Coral was used as large fills / outlines in places. Coral is ≤5%, 100%-or-nothing, dot-only as identity. Corrected.
- Sentence case is the brand default for headlines (earlier work over-used lowercase). Keep lowercase for the wordmark, handles, and film/hero type cards only.
